1 2 Mesa 6.0.1 release notes 3 4 April 2, 2003 5 6 7 8 Introduction 9 ------------ 10 11 Mesa uses an even/odd version number scheme like the Linux kernel. 12 Even-numbered versions (such as 6.0.x) designate stable releases. 13 Odd-numbered versions (such as 6.1.x) designate new developmental releases. 14 15 Mesa 6.0.1 just fixes bugs found since the 6.0 release. See the VERSIONS 16 file for details. 17 18 19 20 Device Drivers 21 -------------- 22 23 Mesa advertises itself as supporting OpenGL 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 or 1.5 24 depending on the device driver's capabilities. For example, if the 25 driver enables all the ARB extensions which are part of OpenGL 1.5 26 then glGetString(GL_VERSION) will return "1.5". Otherwise, it'll 27 return "1.4" or the next lower version that implements all required 28 functionality. 29 30 A number of Mesa's software drivers haven't been actively maintained for 31 some time. We rely on volunteers to maintain many of the drivers. 32 Here's the current status of all included drivers: 33 34 Driver Status 35 ---------------------- --------------------- 36 XMesa (Xlib) implements OpenGL 1.5 37 OSMesa (off-screen) implements OpenGL 1.5 38 FX (3dfx Voodoo1/2) implements OpenGL 1.3 39 SVGA implements OpenGL 1.3 40 Wind River UGL implements OpenGL 1.3 41 Windows/Win32 implements OpenGL 1.5 42 DJGPP implements OpenGL 1.5 43 GGI implements OpenGL 1.3 44 BeOS implements OpenGL 1.5 45 Allegro needs updating 46 D3D needs updating 47 48 49 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 50
